The ensemble’s well-rehearsed performance brought the score’s strengths to the fore. Violinists Luis Fernandez and Anthony Seepersad brought boundless energy, stamina and bright tonal focus to the virtually non stop violin writing.

The Nuevo Mundo String Quartet is one of the first steps by the School of Music to transform the music program into a microcosm of the entire UF student body. If the talent and diligence offered by this quartet is an indication of what’s to come, the rewards will continue for many years.
The soprano produced a gleaming lyrical line in September and finely spun, long limbed phrases in the weary finality of Going to Sleep, aided by the nostalgic yearning of Luis Fernandez’s sweet-toned violin solo.
